Holidaying in Galloway [Jamie Watters]

I was watching 'Location, Location, Location' the other day and saw a lovely old schoolhouse in Galloway and was very much taken with the area - it looked really beautiful. I'm now very keen to visit the area for a short break sometime. Has anyone been there or in that area and have any advice or tips about where to stay?
